Community Engagement Policy

Council is seeking community feedback on its Draft Community Engagement Policy.

This policy sets out how and when Council engages with the community on decisions that may affect people who live, work, own property or visit the district. It helps ensure our engagement is open, transparent and consistent, and meets Council’s obligations under the Local Government Act 1999 and the Community Engagement Charter.

Community engagement plays an important role in good decision‑making. This policy explains:

  • when community consultation is required
  • the different levels of engagement Council may use
  • how community feedback is considered in Council decisions.

We invite community members, local groups, businesses and stakeholders to review the draft policy and share their feedback.

How to have your say

  • Read the draft Community Engagement Policy here
  • Provide feedback in one of the following ways:
    • posting a written submission marked to the attention of the Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 58, Karoonda, SA 5307; or

  • Submissions close on 21 May 2026

All feedback received during the consultation period will be considered by Council before the policy is finalised.
