Enjoy a Winter’s Night Out – An Evening Under the Stars
SALA at the Silos 2025: Grounded in Place Exhibition
The District Council of Karoonda East Murray is excited to be taking part in the SALA Festival for the sixth year in a row.
Karoonda’s iconic silos will be transformed into a canvas for Grounded in Place – a digital projection exhibition that lights up our main street each night in August.
From 1–31 August 2025, visitors can enjoy this colourful display from sunset until 11pm each night.
Curated to explore themes of land, culture, history, and belonging, Grounded in Place shares stories from across South Australia, captured through photography, painting, digital art, and illustration. This stunning outdoor exhibition features work from 18 talented artists:

To celebrate this year’s SALA Festival and the Grounded in Place exhibition, we invite you to a Winter’s Night Out like no other, right here in Karoonda.
An Evening Under the Stars is your chance to experience the magic of art, food and community under our big country sky.

- Viewing of the silo projections of Grounded in Place
- Live painting by exhibiting South Australian artist Greer Tappert
- A cozy pop-up gallery space to explore more creative works
