Lost or Found a Dog or Cat? Let Us Know
If you've lost or come across a dog or cat, please get in touch with District Council of Karoonda East Murray as soon as possible by calling (08) 8578 1004.
When reporting a lost dog, try to include as many of the following details as you can:
- Registration number
- Name
- Sex
- Breed
- Colour
- Age
- Microchip number
- Collar colour
- Any unique identifying features
- When and where the dog was last seen
If you've found a wandering dog and are able to safely contain it, please contact us between 9am and 5:00pm daily. We'll make every effort to identify and get in touch with the owners straight away. If we’re unable to reach them, one of our officers will come and collect the dog as soon as possible.
If it’s outside these hours, and you’re able to safely keep the dog overnight, please do so and call Council the following business day on (08) 8578 1004.
Keep in mind, dogs that are lost may be scared and disoriented, which can put them at risk near roads or unfamiliar surroundings. Some may react defensively, so always be cautious when approaching an unfamiliar animal. If the dog shows signs of aggression, do not attempt to contain it—contact Council immediately.
If the dog seems calm, try to secure it to prevent it from wandering further and getting into harm's way.
