ROAD CLOSURE: Jacka Road

Council have received advice from Murray Zircon that they will be closing access to Jacka Road from 22 July 2024 until late 2025.
They advise that the mine path will soon progress through Jacka Road (as per image below from Mindarie Mineral Sands Project - Mercunda Strandline Program for Environment Protection and Rehabilitation), and subsequently include installation of hard barriers on the road at the perimeter boundaries of the mining lease.
The properties accessed via Jacka Road are considered to all have alternative access points (such as from Walker Flat Road), which will provide alternative access options while Jacka Road is closed.
Murray Zircon has advised that it will re-instate Jacka Road and open it to public access as soon as reasonably possible after mining operations have moved through and rehabilitation has been completed.
