Have Your Say: Proposed Long-Term Lease – Halidon CFS Station

Published 30th October 2026

The District Council of Karoonda East Murray is seeking community feedback on a proposed long-term lease over part of the land used by the Halidon CFS Station.

Council has received a request from the Minister for Emergency Services for a 21-year lease, with a further 21-year option to renew, over a defined portion of the site.

The proposal also includes the construction of a new toilet block and septic system at the site, at the Minister’s expense.

At its meeting on 21 July 2026, Council endorsed the proposal in principle and resolved to undertake community consultation before making a final decision.

Community consultation is required because the proposed lease exceeds five years and involves the alienation of community land.

Council is now inviting residents, ratepayers and interested community members to review the proposal and provide feedback.

Consultation is open until 5.00 pm on Monday 23, November 2026.

Visit the consultation page for further information and to have your say.
