Have Your Say: Draft Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Published 12th October 2026

The  District Council of Karoonda East Murray has prepared a Draft Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy.

We invite community members to review the draft policy and provide feedback before it is finalised.

The Draft Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy provides guidance on how Council staff, Elected Members and contractors can use generative AI tools responsibly and safely.

The policy aims to support the benefits of AI while managing risks such as privacy, confidentiality, misinformation, copyright, bias and security. It also makes clear that AI does not replace human judgement, and people remain responsible for checking AI-generated information and for the decisions they make.

The draft policy covers areas including:

  • Appropriate uses of generative AI
  • Checking AI-generated information before using it
  • Protecting personal and confidential information
  • Human responsibility and decision-making
  • Privacy, copyright, fairness and security risks

Consultation is open until 5.00 pm on Tuesday 03 November 2026.

We encourage all interested residents and community members to have their say.
