Karoonda Township Collection Area

If you have a property within the kerbside collection area (refer to map 1), please note the following:

  • Council will be enforcing a one bin per occupied property policy
  • Council Rate Notices for occupied premises will have an annual service charge of $175.00, as this is the primary bin it will not require a bin tag.
  • Secondary bins can be collected from your property at a cost of $275.00 per bin per annum. You need to contact Council to arrange payment for additional bins and we will supply you with a bin tag to be affixed on additional bins.
  • Secondary bins with a valid tag will be collected.

Other Areas - En-route Collection

If you have a property located along the collection route or in the vicinity (refer to map 2), please note the following:

  • You have the option to access one weekly general waste collection at a cost of $175.00 per annum and we will supply you with a bin tag to be affixed to the bin.
  • If you would like to take up this offer, please contact Council for further information.
  • Additional bins can be collected from the enroute collection point at a cost of $275.00 per bin per annum. You need to contact Council to arrange payment for additional bins and we will supply you with a bin tag to be affixed on additional bins.
  • Bins must be placed en-route
  • Only bins with a valid tag will be collected

Waste Depot Vouchers

Residents who are not provided with a kerbside pick up service will be provided with a Waste Depot Voucher, which will entitle the ratepayer/resident to take waste to the Karoonda Waste Depot for free. This voucher will entitle you to up to 12 visits per annum to the waste depot to dispose of either a 6x4 trailer of general waste or a lounge or a mattress.

Vouchers are available for collection from staff at the Waste Depot, in order to collect you will need to provide ID with proof of residency.

Residents are reminded that the collection by Council's contractor is for DOMESTIC PURPOSES ONLY.

Only items in wheelie bins will be collected, additional items such as cardboard boxes stacked beside the bin will not be collected.

Wednesday - Karoonda, Wynarka, Marama and all other collection areas

To enable efficient collection, bins should be put out the night before collection.

Please ensure your bin is placed with the arrow pointing towards the kerb/road, minimum clearance 1m of any overhead or surrounding obstructions.

Wheelie bins that are too heavy to lift, or contain rocks, bricks or metal will NOT be collected.

Wheelie bins are not to be used for the disposal of oil and oil filters. Council has a waste oil collection facility at its depot which is available to businesses.

Residents are required to have a wheelie bin to deposit their household waste. Council has 240L wheelie bins for sale at $80.00 each (inc GST) and the bin is to remain with the property.

If your bin has not been emptied please contact Council on (08) 8578 1004, who will then notify the contractor on your behalf.
