2026 Recycling & Waste Calendar
For Properties in the Karoonda Township (Map 1)
If your property is within the kerbside collection area:
- One Bin Per Occupied Property – Council allows one bin per property.
- Annual Service Fee: $191 – This is included on your Council Rates notice. This primary bin does not need a tag.
- Extra Bins Available – Additional bins cost $297 per year. Contact Council to:
- Arrange payment
- Receive a bin tag for each extra bin
- Only bins with a valid tag will be emptied.
En-route Bin Collection
For Properties Along the Collection Route (Map 2)
If your property is not in the township but is located along the collection route:
- You can opt in for weekly general waste pickup at $191 per year.
- Contact Council to:
- Sign up
- Receive a bin tag
- Extra bins cost $297 per year – with tags provided by Council
- Only tagged bins will be collected.
- Place bins on the collection route, not on private property.
Waste Depot Access (No Kerbside Collection)
Karoonda Waste Depot Vouchers
If you don’t receive a bin pickup service:
- You are eligible for 12 free drop-offs per year at the Karoonda Waste Depot.
- You can dispose of:
- 1 x 6x4 trailer of general waste
- Collect your voucher at the Waste Depot by showing ID and proof of residency.
Collection Day
- All bin collections occur on Wednesdays in:
- Karoonda
- Wynarka
- Marama
- and surrounding areas
- Only items inside the bin will be collected – no loose boxes or overflow.
- Place bins out the night before collection.
What Can’t Go in Your Bin
- No oil or oil filters
- No rocks, bricks, or metal
- Bins that are too heavy won’t be emptied
Need a Bin?
- Council sells 240L wheelie bins for $80 (GST incl.)
- Bins must stay with the property
- Contact Council to purchase
Missed Collection?
If your bin wasn’t emptied, please contact Council on (08) 8578 1004. We’ll notify the contractor for you.
