Proposed Karoonda Community Garden
Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to establish a community garden in Karoonda, following an idea raised by students from the Karoonda Area School Year 7-9 Pastoral Care Group.
Council is now exploring the possibility of developing the project in partnership with students and the wider community and would like to hear residents' views before any decision is made.
A community garden has the potential to provide a shared space where residents can grow produce, learn new skills, connect with others and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable community. At this stage, no final decision has been made.
Council is inviting feedback from residents and stakeholders to better understand community interest in the proposal and identify any opportunities, concerns or ideas that should be considered as part of the planning process.
Community Feedback will help Council assess:
- The level of community support for a community garden.
- Opportunities the garden may provide for the district.
- Any concerns or challenges that should be considered.
- Ideas for the future design, operation and use of the space.
We encourage community members, local groups, organisations and businesses to review the proposal and share their feedback.
