Karoonda East Murray ANZAC Day Commemorations 2024

The Karoonda East Murray region will be hosting a series of commemorative events to mark ANZAC Day 2024, paying tribute to the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for Australia. From a dawn service in Mantung to an evening storytelling projection on the Karoonda Silos, the community is invited to come together in remembrance and respect.

Mantung Hall Dawn Service
Join the Mantung community at the break of dawn, 06:15 am on Thursday, 25 April 2024, at the Mantung Hall, 18 Clark Street, for a moving service to honour our ANZACs. The service will be followed by a community breakfast, with a licensed bar and canteen available for the day. Campers are welcome.

Karoonda Memorial Gates Service
At 10:00 am, Thursday, 25 April 2024, the Karoonda Memorial Gates will host a service commemorating those who have served. Located at the heart of Karoonda, allowing the community to pay their respects in a meaningful setting. Tea & coffee to be served at the Karoonda Bowls Club at the conclusion of the service.

Karoonda Silo Projection - ‘Beyond The Gates’
From 22 to 30 April, the Karoonda Silos on Railway Terrace will become a canvas for ‘Beyond The Gates’, a nightly storytelling projection that shines a light on the local World War 1 veterans from the Karoonda East Murray area. As the sun sets, these projections will illuminate the silos, sharing the stories of local heroes.

Council Gallery Wall - ‘Honouring Our Veterans’
Throughout April, the District Council of Karoonda East Murray office at 11 Railway Terrace, will display photos and service details of 14 Vietnam War veterans from the Karoonda East Murray area, providing a visual reminder of the sacrifices made by our service members.

The District Council of Karoonda East Murray invites all community members, young and old, to participate in these commemorative events.
