Karoonda Council CEO resigns

The District Council of Karoonda East Murray Chief Executive Officer, Martin Borgas has resigned from his position effective 14th of February 2024.

Mr Borgas joined the District Council of Karoonda East Murray team on the 18th of January 2021, prior to his employment he served as the Director of Operations for the Local Government Association Procurement.

Mayor Caroline Phillips acknowledges Mr Borgas’s contribution over the past 3 years and wishes him well in his future endeavours.

Mayor Phillips wishes to thank the efforts of all staff who have stepped up to ensure business as usual. She particularly acknowledged the contribution of the General Manager Assets Infrastructure & Regulatory Services, Calvin Hoye, who had been Acting CEO during this time.

The recruitment process for a new CEO will start immediately, to be presented at the next council meeting with the aim to promote the position nationally.

“A number of review processes are planned for the coming year. New ideas and a fresh set of eyes will be invaluable as we strive to continue to deliver the best services for our community in the most efficient manner.” Mayor Phillips says.
